Candida Höfer: Florence

The concept for this show was born in 2006 between James Bradburne, general director of Palazzo Strozzi, and gallery owner Ben Brown, who represents Candida Höfer in London. The Foundation was only created recently, but its mission is clear: to portray the beauty that is Florence throughout the world, and the works of Candida Höfer meet this requirement to perfection. Her specialty is composing large-format photographs of interiors and public spaces, library reading rooms, museums, theaters, cafés, universities, homes and historical buildings. And so, over 2007 and 2008, Candida Höfer visited Florence and painstakingly documented the rooms in historical sites. The final selection is of 20 photographs.
