The first edition of “A Positive View”, founded by Andrew Page, was in 1994, sponsored by Vogue, and with the patronage of the Princess of Wales, which consisted of an exhibition at the Saatchy Gallery and a charity auction held by Sotheby’s.
The second was in 2000, sponsored by Getty Images, with the patronage of Princess Alexandra, exhibition at the Atlantis Gallery and auction held at Christie’s.
This year will see the third edition, with the patronage of Prince William and held at Somerset House, with profits from the auction going to Crisis. Despite the royal names and prestigious venue, on this occasion the real royalty are the photographers and works donated for this event: Henri Cartier-Bresson, Elliott Erwitt, Malick Sidibé, Robert Polidori, Roger Ballen, Edward Burtynsky, Mikhael Subotzky, Corinne Day, along with close to ninety others.
