Le Mois de la Photo: The Post-Photographic Condition

Montréal - From September 10 to October 11 the 14th edition of Le Mois de la Photo à Montréal, the international biennial of contemporary photography in Canada, opens the doors with special guest as curator the wellknown Catalan photographer Joan Fontcuberta.

The theme of this year develops around The Post-Photographic Era, characterized by the massification of images and by their circulation and availability online. Digital technology created a new way in photography and also many changes in its social and functional values.

These subjects are explored through more than 100 works by 29 Canadian artists (Joachim Schmid, Laia Abril, Roy Arden, Christina Battle, Christopher Baker, Leandro Berra, Dominique Blain, Adam Broomberg & Oliver Chanarin, Janet Cardiff & George Bures Miller, Grégory Chanatonsky & Dominique Sirois, Hans Eijkelboom, Dina Kelberman, Erik Kessels, Owen Kydd, Isabelle Le Minh, Jacques Pugin, Liam Maloney, Simon Menner, Roberto Pellegrinuzzi, Patricia Piccinini, MissPixels, Andreas Rutkauskas, Sean Snyder, Paul Wong) from 11 countries in 16 exhibition sites in Montréal and the world premiere of eight artworks created specifically for this Biennial will be unveiled. As in every edition, Mois de la Photo offers an educational program and workshops inspired by the theme and a series of events in the city and guided tours.
